FAQs about HD Voice

How does HD Voice work?
HD Voice transmits and receives a wider octave range of the speaker's voice. This creates a richer, more natural sound during calls.  At the same time, HD Voice actively detects background noise and minimizes its presence. This makes your voice and the voice on the other end of the call more defined, prominent and easier to understand.
How do I use HD Voice?
You and the person you are calling must both be Etisalat customers using HD Voice-enabled.
Which phones are HD Voice-enabled?
HD Voice is supported on more than 2 dozen phones and is the standard for all new devices. HD Voice-enabled devices include:
·BlackBerry Q10
·Google Nexus 5
·HTC 8XT
·HTC EVO 4G LTE

What is HD Voice
HD Voice stands for High Definition Voice, which is basically crystal clear sound quality communication.
It’s significantly better than normal voice calls you generally make. Furthermore you don’t have to deal with any breakups, annoying sounds or background noises.
In other words it’s like HD (High Definition) for voice calls.

How to ‘get’ it and use it

How do you make HD voice calls? It’s pretty simple actually. If you satisfy the 2 conditions mentioned below, all the calls that you make will be on HD voice and most importantly there is no additional charge to use this service.

1.       You and the other party you’re calling need to be connected to Etisalat 3G.
2.       And both parties need to have handsets that are HD Voice capable.
However, there’s no straightforward way of checking whether your mobile has HD Voice support. But here’s some information off the cuff. Generally all the high end smart phones these days like Apple’s iPhone 5, Galaxy S4, S5, Note III, HTC 1 etc, Nokia’s Lumia series etc, all come enabled with HD Voice.
If you’re not sure whether your handset supports it or not, you’ll need to check its specifications on the web. Check whether the manufacturer says it is HD voice capable or if it states somewhere that is support WB-AMR (Wide Band – Adaptive Multi Rate) or G.722.2.
